Forbes Magazine offers free online access to a variety of company lists that it publishes, including the much-sought-after 200 Best Small Companies, The Private 500, America's 500 Leading Companies, The Platinum 500, and the International 500. Hoover's Inc. Online
Hoover's, Inc. delivers extensive company, industry, people and product information for public and private companies both in the U.S. and abroad. In addition it is a very good free source for industry information. In-depth information requires registration and payment. Updates daily.

Securities & Exchange Commission
The primary mission of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is to protect investors and maintain the integrity of the securities markets. All investors, whether large institutions or private individuals, should have access to certain basic facts about an investment prior to buying it. To achieve this, the SEC requires public companies to disclose meaningful financial and other information to the public, which provides a common pool of knowledge for all investors to judge for themselves if a company's securities are a good investment.

Yahoo Finance & Company Search
One of the most comprehensive databases for current and historical company data, investment information and stock quotes from major U.S. and Canadian exchanges. Financial news from sources such as Reuters, S&P and Business Wire. Also provides insurance information, loan and mortgage rates, tax information and quotes from foreign markets. The special company search feature answers your questions (market data, research a sector, screen by industry, compare companies, research a company, etc.).

Annual Reports
The report gallery currently lists over 2,200 annual reports and Form 10-Ks; it covers the majority of the Fortune 500 companies.

PriceWaterhouseCoopers developed this front end to the SEC database for electronic filings. Search by company name, ticker symbol or SIC code. Extracts financial data into nicely-formatted tables. Output is available in Excel spreadsheets, RTF and XML as well as plain text.

SEC Info
With SECInfo, you can search by name, industry, business, SIC code, area code, CIK, accession number, file number, date or topic. Great extensive hyperlink capabilities. When searching for company filings, will give number of filings in their database as well as the data range of all filings. Also provides a brief description of the filings for the company you are searching. Free registration. Recently started charging small fee to subscribe.

Wall Street Journal Annual Report Service
Free annual report service provided by WILink and WSJ Interactive. Quick access to annual reports and other information on selected companies. Can select alphabetically by company name or industry.


Wikipedia: Companies by Country
This section of the popular Wikipedia encyclopedia provides company profiles for hundreds of U.S. and international firms, both public and private. You can find entries either by browsing the various categories (e.g., companies by country, by stock exchange, or by industry) or by entering the name of the target organization in the search box.

Internet 800 Search
The Internet 800 Directory covers all toll-free telephone numbers, not just those provided by AT&T. Companies are listed by product, service, company name, state, and 800 numbers.
