TopWhat types of retirement options does the city provide?

The City is a member of CalPERS. Your retirement formula is based on your years of service in the system, and the age at which you retire. The normal retirement formulas are:

  • Local Miscellaneous – 2.7% at 55
  • Local Safety Police 3% at 50
  • Local Safety Fire 3% at 50

TopDoes the city pay into Social Security?

No, All benefited employees participate in the CalPERS system. All non-benefited employees have a retirement account through Great West Deferred Compensation. 

TopCan I continue my medical, dental and vision coverage after I retire?

Yes, the city offers its retirees the opportunity to continue coverage at their own cost with the advantages of being on a group plan.
