Orientation & Application Process
Welcome to our orientation
and application page We thank you for
your interest in becoming a member of the CA-TF6 US&R Team. The following
information is provided to all personnel to better understand the General
Requirements set-forth by DHS/FEMA/US&R to obtain deployable status. These
requirements along with position specific requirements and administrative
paperwork is needed to be considered deployable by CA-TF6 and FEMA.
Fire Fighter and Civilian training methods
differ slightly, refer to the Orientation Modules for
clarification.
- Complete Critical Incident Stress awareness training.
- Complete IS-100 and IS-200 (or their equivalent), IS-700 and IS-800B online
courses.
- Complete DHS/FEMA National US&R Response System Orientation course as part
of the Task Force orientation
- Complete initial training at the First Responder Operations Level for
Hazardous Materials (OSHA 29 CFR, 1910.120).
- Complete annual refresher training as required for First Responder
Operations Level for Hazardous Materials (OSHA 29 CFR, 1910.120).
- Be currently certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Task force members
currently licensed or certified as EMT (all levels) and licensed Board Certified
Emergency Physicians inherently meet this requirement).
- Complete respiratory protection training per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 (k).
a. Complete refresher training as required for respiratory protection
training per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 (k).
- Complete the DHS/FEMA National US&R Response System WMD Enhanced Operations
course.
- Complete NFPA 1670 Awareness Level training for:
a. Confined space rescue operations
b. Water rescue operations
c. Structural collapse operations
- Complete Blood-borne Pathogen training.
