Riverside receives top ranking for
managing operating expenses
Out of 478 California cities, Riverside ranked first for
managing
operating expenses on a per capita basis and was second
highest
overall as calculated by Competitive Analytics, an
independent
scientific think tank. The City boasts an $802
million surplus of
revenues over operating expenditures from 2000 to 2008.

Riverside Mariachi Festival this Saturday
The 5th Annual Mariachi Festival happens this Saturday,
September 25, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Fairmount Park. The
Parks,
Recreation and Community Services Department is proud to
present this event where nationally-known mariachis such
as
Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles will perform. It’s

Arlanza Library nearing completion
The Arlanza Neighborhood is less than two months away
from
welcoming a new library. The Arlanza Library,
located at 8267
Philbin Avenue, is moving towards completion with a
grand opening
scheduled for November 13. This new
10,000-square-foot library
will feature a dedicated children’s area, adult reading
area,
community meeting room and more than 70 public access
computers.

families in need
If you or someone you know is behind in paying utility
bills, The
Gas Company can offer assistance through the Temporary
Energy
Assistance for Families (TEAF) program.
Applications are currently
being accepted for one-time bill credits up to $1,500.

The fitExpo is a day of free physical activity
for the entire community.
It will expose children and adults to a variety of
sports and fitness activities
