Riverside standing on strong financial ground
The City of Riverside’s
budget is sound thanks to the City Council’s strong
fiscal management. The Council approved budget for
Fiscal Year 2010 - 2011 maintains the City’s good
financial standing while preserving key services, a
prudent General Fund Reserve and a highly productive

Riverside Mariachi Festival tickets on sale now!
Tickets are on sale now for the 5th Annual Mariachi
Festival on Saturday,
September 25, at
Fairmount
Park.
The Parks, Recreation and Community
Services Department is proud to present this event where
nationally
known mariachis such as Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles will perform.

Columbia Avenue
road closure alert
Columbia Avenue
will be closed at the railroad crossing between Iowa
Avenue and Northgate Street
in both directions beginning Wednesday,
August 11, at 7 a.m. The road is expected to
reopen on Friday, August
13, at approximately noon. Traffic will be
detoured to Northgate Street.
Access to businesses will be available at all times!

New Riverside Police Chief promotes 13 officers
New Police Chief Sergio Diaz recently announced 13
promotions within
the Riverside Police Department. On August 17,
2010, the Department
will host a Promotion Ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Riverside
Convention
Center. Family,
friends and the public are welcome to attend.

Casa Blanca gearing up for Early Learning Program in the
fall
A new Early Learning Program will soon be available at
the Casa Blanca
Library thanks to an $80,000 grant. The Early
Learning Program is
designed for children 5 years of age and under and will
offer literacy,
social and health education components.
