On September 4, 2012 the Ontario City Council voted unanimously to appoint Riverside Mayor Ronald O. Loveridge and Lucy Dunn, President and CEO of the Orange County Business Council, to the newly formed Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA).

“Ontario International Airport is a regional asset serving a large population in four counties,” said Loveridge who will step down as Riverside’s mayor on December 12 after serving for 18 years. “It is appropriate that it be governed by an airport authority with region-wide representation and participation. I am pleased to join the other members of the airport authority as we work through the transfer of the airport from Los Angeles and oversee the resurgence of ONT as an integral part of the Southern California airports system.”
