As the finish-line location for the action-packed, one-week long adverturally, FIREBALL RUN, Riverside is making plans to properly welcome teams and fans as they reach the final destination of the 2013 epic event that runs from September 20-28.
The 8 day, 14 city, 2500 mile rally is literally a life-sized trivia game and America is the game board. Forty teams literally go head-to-head as they use more brain power than horse power teams solve clues based on history, science, nature, theology, pop culture, and virtually anything in relation to their geographical location – once found, they must accomplish missions in order to score, and every bit is filmed as part of the FIREBALL RUN TV Series. All while aiding in the recovery of America’s missing children.
Annually distributing over 75,000 posters, FIREBALL RUN’s Race to Recover America’s Missing Children® is the largest and longest active recovery effort for missing children, and has aided in the unprecedented return of 38 missing children. In addition to the effort for missing children, FIREBALL RUN and teams have donated thousands of dollars in toys, books, sports equipment, time, money, and computers to local charities along their annual journey from Longmont, CO to Riverside.
At a June 20, 2013 press conference, Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey announced a Fireball Festival is being planned in Riverside for the weekend of Sept. 27-29 to celebrate the conclusion of the rally. Among the events are a car show featuring exotic cars from Lamborghini to Ferrari and classics like the Rolls-Royce, a welcome parade beginning at City Hall, a beer garden, turkey barbecue as well as a special event at the Fox theater. On Sunday of that weekend, Bailey will host a Bike Ride with the Mayor event, in which the public can ride with him.
