City of Riverside Chief Innovation Officer Lea Deesing was presented with the Award of Excellence in the Office of the Midmarket CIO for the City’s partnership with ACS, a Xerox company, at the Midmarket CIO Forum on October 29, 2013. The award recognizes powerful collaborations between technology vendors and enterprise IT teams that resulted in outstanding benefits to their midmarket organizations.
“Every day we work closely with the most innovative minds in the midmarket,” said Hilary Badoian, EVP of Boardroom Events, producers of the Midmarket CIO Forum. “This award recognizes the one person who has stood out amongst this group of pioneers in the IT field. We are thrilled to have these CIOs at the Forum and to recognize all their accomplishments.”
Deesing was honored among an elite group of peers for her team’s partnership with ACS to develop a 24-hour City Hall with application development and integration in a highly efficient and user-friendly environment. The partnership was formed under the City of Riverside’s efforts to create a high tech, knowledge-based community through the formation of the High Technology Task Force, part of which included the development of the SmartRiverside Digital Inclusion Center to offer free WiFi, computers and training for low-income families. Riverside selected ACS, a Xerox Company, as its technology services partner because they are the leading outsourcing company in the Public Sector. Under Deesing’s direction, ACS manages, operates and supports the City’s data centers, networks, applications, help desk and client/user services as well as departmental projects and SmartRiverside’s Digital Inclusion Center.
Through Deesing’s leadership as CIO, the City of Riverside’s Information and Technology Department has aligned with City Departments to transform Riverside into a High Technology City that boasts a robust and secure “state-of-the-art” enterprise datacenter; internet connectivity throughout the City; a team of highly skilled professionals; and access to a “24 Hour City Hall” with services that are among the finest offered anywhere in the U.S. The IT Department also provides incentives for high tech businesses and employee relocation incentives, has implemented dozens of leading edge citizen centered applications, and is a model city for high technology collaboration.
