California is faced with
the significant challenge of diverting or safely managing more than
31 million reusable and waste tires generated each year. In addition,
another 3 million tires are imported annually from out of state.
|
| California has millions of waste
tires that have been illegally dumped or stock-piled. These stockpiles
pose a potential threat to public health, safety, and the environment. |
| To encourage proper tire disposal,
the City of Riverside hosts periodic tire amnesty days each year for
FREE. |
| The City uses rubberized asphalt
made from recycled tires (crumb rubber) and when possible seeks grants
to fund these projects. This is good for our environment and
saves city dollars! |
