:: Municipal Elections

General municipal elections are held in June of odd-numbered years by all-mail ballot. If no candidate receives a majority of the votes, a special run-off election is held in November of odd-numbered years which is consolidated with the County-wide election on that same date.

Measure A which amends the Riverside Municipal Code reducing the keeping of crowing roosters to no more than seven on any lot in the Residential Agricultural and Residential Conservation Zones was approved at a special municipal election held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, with the following votes: 

                              Yes - 36,938

                               No - 17,695

A special municipal runoff election for Councilmembers from Wards 1, 3, 5, and 7 for a full term of four years was held on Tuesday, November 6, 2007.

The following candidates were elected:

Ward 1: Michael C. Gardner
 
Ward 3: William "Rusty" Bailey, III
 
Ward 5: Christopher H. Mac Arthur
 
Ward 7: Steve Adams
 

An all-mail ballot election for the purpose of electing Councilmembers for Wards 2, 4, and 6 will be conducted on June 2, 2009.

The next Mayoral election will be conducted on November 3, 2009, for a term ending June 2012. All subsequent Mayoral elections will be held in June of United States Presidential election years with runoffs, if required, in November of United States Presidential election years.
