Joe Vazquez resides in Ward 2 and began his term on the Airport Commission in March 2017. Commissioner Vazquez and his wife own and operate a successful, small business in the security industry. Commissioner Vazquez is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and worked with the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs as an advocate for homeless veterans. Vazquez is a member of various organizations including the National Veteran Small Business Coalition (NVSBC), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Disabled Veteran Business Alliance (DVBA) and Service Connected Disabled Veteran (USMC). Commissioner Vazquez is also proficient in emergency response. Vazquez' experience as a security consultant with an international airport provides a unique viewpoint to the Airport Commission. As a child, Vazquez was a regular passenger in his uncle’s Cessna 150, flying from Los Angeles to Catalina Island.
