      Hill Officer-Involved Death (OID) Evaluation Process

      Discussion and further action, if any, of the Commission's public report regarding the officer-involved death
      of Joseph Hill on October 19, 2006:

      A)   Discussion of Stage VI, Prepare Written Public Report

 

      Discussion occurred regarding a preliminary finding based on the criminal report and the report submitted
      by the Commission's private investigator.

      Leslie Braden spoke regarding the finding, stating that she believes there is a conflict of interest
      concerning some members of the Commission.

 

      Subsequent to some additional discussion regarding the public report, Mr. Rogan said he would have a
      draft prepared for review and discussion at the next meeting.
 

      Commissioner Beeman stated she will be submitting a minority report.

      Commissioner Comments

      Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, commissioners may use this time to make brief
      announcements or a brief report on his or her own activities.

 

      Commissioner Slawsby:

  • thanked Chair Corral for her outreach to RCC students

  • went on first ride-along

  • put in for MILO training at RPD

  • asked for an update on recent Supreme Court decision regarding searches by police officers

 

      Commissioner Beeman:

  • asked for information regarding RPD and ICE

  • expressed concern regarding a letter received from Chief Leach that no information would be issued if there was no interest expressed by Council

  • asked for an update on letter requested by Commissioner Pearcy regarding CPRC and OID scenes

 

      Commissioner Santore commented on his attendance at various local meetings

 

 

      Chairperson Corral commented on her presentation to an Admin of Justice class at RCC, Moreno Valley

      Campus.

 

 

      Items for Future Commission Consideration

 

      Commissioner Slawsby asked to agendize discussion regarding the recent Supreme Court decision.

 

      Commissioner Beeman reiterated her request for a presentation regarding credibility assessments.  Mr.
      Rogan advised that he was
discussing that topic with RPD.

 

 

      Adjournment

 

      The Commission adjourned at 6:50 PM.
